How to crochet fish

Crochet Fish ~ Free Crochet Pattern

This pattern was created while trying to make something else. It was originally going to be posted on CrochetArtDesign’s website, however, since the tail of this fish is heart shaped, I decided to publish it here instead 🙂

Crochet Materials

Crochet hook size 2.5

Crochet yarn cotton white, pink, black, white glitter yarn, orange fluffy yarn.

Sewing needle.

Stuffing.

Crochet stitches

Chains (ch)

Slip stitch (sl st)

Single crochet (sc)

Double crochet (dc)

Treble (tr)

Other crochet stitch abbreviation: FR: Foundation Row

Crochet Fish head and body.

FR. Ch 10, sl st in ch 1. 15 sc in ring, sl st in 1st sc.

Row 1. Sc in sc.

Row 2. 2 sc in next 4 sc, sc in sc until last 4 sc, 2 sc in remaining 4 sc.

Row 3. Sc in sc.

Row 4. 2 sc in next 8 sc, sc in sc until last 8 sc, 2 sc in remaining 8 sc.

Row 5. Sc in sc.

Row 6. (Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc tog) x 2, sc in sc until last 12 sc, (2 sc tog, sc in 4 sc) x 2.

Row 7. (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc tog) x 3, turn, sc in sc back to beginning of row, (sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc tog) x 3, turn, sc in sc back to beginning of row.

Row 8. (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc tog) x 2, turn, sc in sc back to beginning of row, (sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc tog) x 2, turn, sc in sc back to beginning of row.

Row 9. Sc in sc to end.

10. (sc in 2 sc, 2 sc tog) x 2, sc in sc until last 8 sc, (2 sc tog, sc in 2 sc) x 2.

11. Sc in sc.

12. (Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc tog) x 2, sc in sc until last 10 scs, (2 sc tog, sc in next 3 sc) x 2.

13 (Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc tog) x repeat all the way around.

14-15. Sc in sc.

16. (sc in next sc, 2 sc tog) x repeat all the way around.

17-19. Sc in sc. Fill in stuffing.

Begin crochet fishtail.

Row 20. Ch 3, (2 dc in next st, sc in next st) x all the way around, sl st in ch 3.

Row 21. Sc in next 2 sts, (1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st)x 2, 1 dc in next dc, sc in next 5 sts, (2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st) x 2, sc in remaining sts.

Row 22. Sc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, 1 tr in next 2 sts, sc until last 7 sts,  1 tr in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, 1 dc in next st, sc in next st.

Row 23. Sc in sts until next tr, (sc in tr, 3 ch picot in same sc, sl st in same sc) x 2, sc in next sts until next tr,  (sc in tr, 3 ch picot in same sc, sl st in same sc) x 2, sc to end, sl st in last st. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

Crochet fish fins.

Ch 7, turn, 1 dc in 3rd ch from hook, 1 dc in next ch, 1 tr in next 3 chs. Turn, 3 ch picot, sl st in same st, (sl st in next st, 3 ch picot, sl st in same st) x to last st. Sl st edges to side of fish. Attach white glitter yarn to tail and fins with slip stitch.

With sewing needle and black yarn, stitch eyes.

With Sewing needle and pink yarn, stitch lips.

Slip stitch orange yarn on top of fish to create Mohawk. 🙂 CONGRATULATION! You have now made a fish that can never die, and hopefully, never get flushed down the toilet! =D
